CREATIVITY, CURATED.

Creative work is collective work.

I'm at my best when I've got a pile of materials to make something beautiful from, or a price point that needs a design to match. I believe in collaboration - helping design around someone else's objectives or running my own ideas past those whose creative input and insight I value. My desk might be messy at times, but it will be surrounded by inspiring trinkets curated to remind me of the moments in time that have fired my creativity. I have channeled my inner artist into photography, product design, creative direction, trade show installations, interior design, wardrobe curation and art direction in advertising and social media. I am a color collector - life is too short to be beige!

PRODUCT DESIGN

I design around the following values and aesthetic principles:

  • Nature as the first point of inspiration
  • Timeless lines with a modern twist
  • Mixed metals are always in style
  • Good design can't exist without comfort
  • Adjustable and/or multi-use is ideal
  • Natural materials + a bit of sparkle = winning

CREATIVE DIRECTION

Everything benefits from a designer's eye. As the head of a small business I have grown experienced translating an organization's mission into a brand identity reflected in photography, print materials and messaging. I worked with a talented team with skills in design and layout to implement my vision for our brand. I have conceptualized and managed photo shoots in multiple countries (and climates!) that capture the heart of a product line. If you have a project or business needing visual representation, I can help you create campaigns that reflect your brand and support your goals.

VIDEO DIRECTION

For years I have transformed stories into film in my head. With this project I finally had a chance to create a visual story on film to capture the impact of our work creating jobs for women who are Deaf. Working with our artisan team, I collected the experience of each woman and wrote a powerful script capturing their reality in a way that hearing viewers could process. It was important to do this visually, and not with spoken word, in order to respect and enhance the visual effect of the sign language used throughout. This film was selected as the global winner in a multi-media competition sponsored by the US State Department and the Alliance for Artisan Enterprise. The competition asked for multi-media projects to capture the theme "I am artisan."
